1. Duke (3-1)
Duke leads the league with the fewest amount of points allowed at just 36. Sister duo senior Celia and freshman Caroline Martzolf create a very strong defense while sophomores Caitlin Reid and Lexie Alpeter add height to the team.
2. UCONN (3-1)
UCONN is definitely one of the more aggressive teams in the league. Senior Jessie Halstrom is fierce and senior Maddie Burke is cool and collected while she has the ball. This is the first year senior Izzy Scribano has played House ball, but her athleticism still helps the team succeed.
3. Indiana (2-2)
Indiana had to forfeit one game due to a lack of players, so this team is still a contender for the top spot. Even with that forfeit, Indiana has the second greatest amount of points scored in the league (74). Senior Emily Milukas brings skill as she used to play for the high school team. Freshman Hailey Meier is definitely one to watch.
4. Kentucky (2-2)
Junior Morgan Tienken leads Kentucky with her dribbling skills and ability to make baskets when they are most needed. Senior Julia Boccuzzi has an awesome outside shot. Time will tell whether this team will move up the rankings or down.
5. Syracuse (2-2)
Another sister duo—senior Maddie Cush and junior Ellie Cush—lead this team. Juniors Colleen Howe and Lauren Murphy add aggression and height. This team has scored the most points in the league (91), but also allowed the most points to be scored against them (85). It is refreshing to see high numbers in a league of mostly low-scoring games.
6. North Carolina (0-4)
Seniors Tyson Maley and Amanda Percarpio are two of the strongest players in the league, but are challenged by the fact that the other six players on the team are freshmen. This is a team that would definitely benefit from the old Girls House Basketball schedule—one practice and one game each week—so the new players could get better acquainted. There is still time in this season for a turnaround, though.
