The Girls Cross Country Team traveled to Rhode Island to compete at the Ocean State Invitational on Saturday, September 24th, at Goddard Park. Sixteen runners competed in the Large School Division in the varsity and JV races. The course was 5,000 meters (3.1 miles) that was mostly flat on grass and dirt paths with moderate hills. Junior Kara O’Rourke said of the meet, “There are hundreds of teams and it is the biggest competition we have because with more runner the race is much more difficult. A tough race here will help our performance for the rest of the season, culminating in a great postseason.” Junior Emilia Callery led the team at 51st place with a time of 21:17, followed by junior Deirdre DiMauro with a time of 22:46.
The Girls Cross Country Team is hoping to do well at its next meet at Fairfield Ludlowe on MONDAY, October 10th.
