On Friday, February 24, the Darien Girls Basketball Team took home a win against West Haven High School to qualify for States. West Haven led the game in the first half and it looked like Darien would lose, but they pulled through in the last half to win by one point. With 8 seconds left in the game, Christine Fiore had two foul shots. The score was 52-50, Darien. It was no doubt that she was capable of making these shots, even with the West Haven crowd shouting and booing. Fiore swished both foul shots to lead the game by four points. Miraculously, West Haven was able to get the ball down the court and shoot a 3 point buzzer beater, but it was not enough because the Blue Wave had already won the game. Their first states game is Tuesday February 28 against Trumbull.
