This season was a rebuilding year for DHS’ Wrestling team. With a roster full of underclassmen, and a few tough juniors and seniors, the team fought hard ending the regular season with 11-17. Going into FCIACS, senior Matt Liguori was undefeated with a record of 24-0, junior Jon Lewis 23-5, sophomore Lars Remole 23-7, and sophomore Dimitri Chagares 20-11. Ligouri wrestled 140 and placed 2nd at FCIACs. Wrestling at 112, Lewis placed 7th at both FCIACs and States. Other members of the team competed in FCIACs and States, and as a team, DHS placed 15th at FCIACs and 22nd at States. Also a memorable moment this year, was when coach, Joe Vano, broke record for number of wins. After 14 years, Vano became the most winning coach with 119 wins. Seniors graduating this year are Tom Bassford, Matt Ligouri and James Geddes. The team has high hopes for next year because the underclassmen will have more experience and will no longer be the young ones anymore, they must step up to the challenge if the team is to succeed.
