The wave came crashing down on the Darien girl’s soccer team when they had a devastating loss to Barlow high school in a scrimmage on Thursday. The team started out strong with a 3-0 lead at half time, but fell apart as Barlow played stronger and stronger. It seemed like nothing could go right for the girls during the second half as they had at least 5 shots on goal, all saved by the Barlow goalie. Junior goalie Charlotte Phillips made some tremendous saves, but it wasn’t enough to keep her team from drowning. As the half played out, it was clear that the girls were losing their steam. Hopefully in the team’s next game against Fairfield Warde, they’ll bring the heat that we all know they have (pictured above: junior Georgie Highton guarding a forward from Barlow).
