Libby Feingold has
been playing on the DHS girls tennis team since her freshman year. Three years
later as a junior Libby continues to be a strong asset to team and is ready to
come out swinging strong this season. “I am double partners with freshman Anna
Barsanti this year,” Feingold explained. “We compliment each other really well
because we have the same strengths, we are both good at net and have consistent
ground strokes. We are like the same player which works really well in
doubles,” Feingold said.
Feingold has been
playing tennis since she was 5 years old. It all started at Roton Point and
years later lead up to playing in the USTA where tennis players become
nationally ranked based off their performance statistics.
Feingold explained
why she had such a passion for the sport, “I like how its really personal and
you can just focus on your own game and improve depending on how hard you try.”
Her personal goals for this year are to “qualify as an individual for States,
which is separate tournament.” For the team she hopes to beat New Canaan and
Greenwich.
The captains this
year are Sarah Alptekin and Jenna Murray. “Jenna Murray plays number one singles
and has always been a strong player. It’s her senior year now and I think she
is really going to show everybody what she is made of.” Feingold said.
The first
scrimmage is tomorrow at DHS; the team will be playing Weston at 4pm.
