Darien took on St. Joes this past Saturday for their annual homecoming game. St. Joes was supposed to be the first real test of the year for the Blue Wave and they passed with soaring colors. After a promising first drive by the Cadets, they were unable to convert on a 30 yard field. Darien was able to capitalize with a touchdown by senior running back Shelby Grant. From there, the Wave dominated the game scoring 49 points in just three quarters, while St. Joes couldn't put anything on the board. Senior Christian Trifone also had three touchdowns. Overall, the Darien offense was virtually unstoppable in the passing game.
The defense was nearly flawless letting up only one touchdown late in the game. Senior sack leader Mark Evanchick recorded 3.5 sacks on the day moving him within six of the state record. Darien now looks forward to facing Brien McMahon High School on Friday night.
