Th Blue Wave football team took on the Danbury Hatters this past Saturday. The offense had a slow start going three and out on its first two drives, and finally scoring late in the first quarter making it 7-0 in favor of the Wave. Darien came out firing in the second quarter scoring 35 points including a punt block by junior defensive end Quinn Fay, which was recovered in the end zone by senior Christian Trifone. Despite rough start for the Wave, they again proved their dominance and went into the half with a 42-0 lead. The offense finished the day with a total of 49 points.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Wave only let up 7 points late in the game putting the Hatters on the board. Mark Evanchick had two and a half sacks on the day leaving him just three shy of the record. Darien faces a struggling Wilton team, where Evanchick will have a chance to top Dwight Freeney's state record for most sacks.
