The Darien Boys Golf Team finished runners up in the state Golf Championship this past Monday, with Greenwich winning the title.
The tournament took place at Timberlin Golf Course, in Berlin, Connecticut, an 18 hole course, which includes 62 bunkers. The Greenwich team shot a collective 301 to win the tournament, a great 18 holes for the team, as the runners up, Darien shot a 311, with third place Simsbury shooting a 316.
Junior Alex Gu was a bright point in Darien’s day, as he individually tied for second place with Alexander Aurora of Hamden, shooting a 73.
While this may be little consolation to Darien, who had high expectations for the year, Gu and his a number of his teammates will be looking forward to the Open Championship in Old Lyme, Connecticut, at the Black Hall Club on Saturday, June 8th.
