On Saturday, June the 8th, the Darien High School Girls Varsity lacrosse team would have toface the New Canaan Rams in a fight to the Finish at the state finals. Darien ended up winning with a s core of 12-3, but it took a lot of effort and hard work to get there.
The DHS girls started off strong by scoring the first point in the first half. New Canaan
decided that they had to step it up, and so they scored their first point five minutes later. Darien was on a brilliant defensive streak, making sure that New Canaan could not penetrate the defensive line. During that same period, the offense went on a streak
to score four goals which ended the first half with a score of 6-2.
The first half was just the beginning for the Blue Wave team - it was the second half where things really began to heat up. New Canaan was only able to score one point during the second half, and the game ended in a 12-3 score.
“Our defense was solid throughout the game, keeping New Canaan from being able to penetrate our goal,” junior Brianna Lyons said. “But when they did penetrate, Shea Dulce, our goalie, made many great saves and clears throughout our game.”
