Darien Girls' Swimming Makes it to the Finals

-By: Emily Close-

Another breathtaking performance for girl’s swimming clocked in on Saturday (11/13) at the Class L Trials. Thirty six people swam in a series of 13 events made up of six heats. With a limited amount of spots open for the finals this Wednesday (11/17) the stakes were high, but the girls swim team proved this was no problem. Every girl except one qualified for finals. Sophomore Caroline Orem turned up the heat breaking a school record in the 100 backstroke set by her sister and former swim team, Katie. Caroline continued her streak with the help of juniors Cammie Kirby and Caroline Kearney along with senior Catherine Treesh to set a new record in the 200 Medley. Darien goes into the finals listed as number one in both these events.
Once on a roll, the swim team did not stop there, the girls were listed in several of the 13 events as follows:

50 Freestyle- 4. Catherine Treesh

It is wonderful to read about the swim team spirit, hard work, fun and of course victories. Everyday me and my many friends eagerly log onto this blog to see what the team has accomplished and who did what. Yes, teamwork is important but you know, at the end of the day, it's all about consistent individual performance.
