Girls Swimming Ends Season in Top 5 Spot

Girls’ Varsity swim team had a great performance at State Opens placing fifth overall this weekend. The team competed at Yale University on Saturday. (11/20) The top 24 swimmers across the state for each event qualify for State Opens. Among the Darien swimmers were seniors Catherine Treesh and Lindsay Tyler; juniors Caroline Kearney, Carly Berizzi, and Cammie Kirby; sophomores Caroline Orem and Francesca Milewski; and freshmen Victoria Chao and Amanda Bieler. Darien placed 5th, behind Greenwich (1st), New Canaan (2nd), Cheshire (3rd), and Wilton (4th). Senior captain Catherine Treesh performed well in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle, and senior captain Lindsay Tyler performed well in the 500-yard freestyle and the 200-yard IM. Darien’s 200 yard Medley relay placed 4th overall, and the team’s 200-yard freestyle relay placed 5th overall. The girls’ are now officially done for the season. “We’ve had a great championship season. I’m so proud of the way we all swam!” Tyler said.
