Posted by McKinley Stauffer. On March 21st, the 2011 Girls Outdoor Track Team will begin practice for its upcoming spring season. The captains for Girls Track this year are Megan Keane, Caroline Kapustinski, Alex Iqbal, Charlotte Phillips, and Lee Bolton. According to Steve Norris, the Girls Track Coach, every single senior that participated in the Indoor season will be returning for Outdoor. Norris is excited that the team will be led by dedicated senior players. This season also brings about some unexpected changes for the spring distance team. Coach Kate Lyons will not be leading the distance team this year. She is taking a break from coaching during the Outdoor season and will hopefully be returning next year. The team now welcomes Mr. Dave Ott, junior distance runner Meredith Ott’s father, to be the new distance coach for Darien. According to sophomore Grace Loh, "The girls distance team is coming off a great indoor season so we hope to improve during outdoor and we're really excited that Mr. Ott is going to be our coach!"
