Last Thursday, April 21, the Darien varsity baseball team took on instate powerhouse Norwalk at home. The Blue Wave, who had seven wins and one loss at the time, had been doing some serious damage at the plate and with the help of a few errors and walks were able to continue their fine form. However, winning this game was not so simple, Mike Gonzalez, the Norwalk ace, hit 90 on the radar gun with regularity. Interesting enough it was not the Norwalk pitcher that dominated the game, but sophomore Justin Jordan who threw five strong innings in his first start of the year. The Blue Wave then came up with some clutch hits with men in scoring position and were able to put up some runs early in the game.
When asked how he was able to pitch so well on his first start Jordan replied; “I threw strikes and I was able to stay in the game with great defense behind me”.
Come support the Blue Wave at Fairfield Warde at 4 on Monday, April 25th.
