The Darien Blue Wave went down to the Ridgefield Tigers 6-5 at home on Wednesday. The team was winning throughout the game, but lost control in the last two innings. Junior David Hickey got the start for the Blue Wave, but the hitting couldn’t get him the win. What offense the Wave had came from seniors Chris Bruno and Teddy Malley. Ridgefield provided one error from the second baseman. Darien had two errors in the field, which didn’t help the pitching. Hickey was relieved by junior Ricky Hodges, who was then taken out by senior Ryan McDonald, all of whom pitched in a losing effort. Some good advice came from the JV field where starting pitcher junior Mike Miller came up with three innings of no hit baseball and led the team in winning 3-0. The next game will be in Trumbull against Saint Joes at 3:45pm on Friday May 1st.
