Darien boys varsity football notched arguably its best victory on Saturday over Trinity Catholic. The Wave ran right through Trinity taking the game 35-6. The win moves Darien's record to 3-2 and marks the first time the Wave have won back-to-back games this season.
On the first drve of the game, Darien marched down the field for an impressive effort that ended with a touchdown pass from senior quarterback George Benitez(#3 pictured) to senior wide out Michael Wohlberg. Then senior kicker John Gardner added an extra point, Darien took a quick 7-0 lead. However, Trinity Catholic, quickly answered after junior Tre Crumbley took the kick inside the Darien five yard line. From there, Trinity junior running back Mike Rivas took it to the end zone. After Darien senior Bobby Nolan blocked the extra point, Drien remained on top 7-6.

In the second quarter, Darien's offense began to tear up Trinity Catholic's defense. Senior running back Bobby Nolan helped Darien drive down the field, and then he took it to the end zone on a nine-yard touchdown run. Then, after a Trinity fuble was recovered by junior Graham Maybell, Benitez took it in for another score on a 50-yard run. Darien added one more score before the half on a connection between Benitez and senior wide-reveiver Alex Wildish to give Darien a 28-6 lead going into the second half.
