The Darien Blue Wave Ice Hockey team beat the Trumbull Eagles with a final score of 6-3 on Friday. (2/4) Through the first two periods the score was equal and Trumbull even had the lead at one point. Senior Garren Fritts’s first period goal could have been one of his best shots of the season. After faking a pass to senior line mate Richard Gregory, Fritts pulled up and snapped a puck in the upper right corner of the goal.
When the third period started it was Wave domination. Two minutes into the period, Gregory skated into the zone before undressing the defenseman. Gregory pulled up at the dot and ripped a snap shot mid cheese. That goal tied the game at two. Gregory’s goal was followed by ones from sophomore Brendan Hathaway (pictured above) and junior Cam Murray.
At the end, it was Hathaway who earned the first star. Between his two goals and monstrous hit, Hathaway was buzzing all around the ice creating turnovers and stealing the puck.
Come support the Blue Wave at its next game against Ridgefield at the Winter Garden Ice Arena at 8:50pm on Saturday. (1/5)
