December 15th was the first meet for the girls track team. The team was very successful and had many people that placed in the top 10 in their events! Starting off the meet was the 45 meter dash, in which junior Kate Armstrong placed 9th out of 89. Junior Tess Keating and freshmen Brooke Dolan placed 7 and 8 in the very close 45 meter hurdles race. Sophomore Charlotte Sulger placed first in the 300 meters out of 85. Senior Eva Finn placed first in the 600 meters out of 37. In the 600 also freshman Alexis Lyons placed 4th, and sophomore Chelsi Chevannes placed 6th. Freshman Mairead Clas got 1st place in the 1000 meters, senior Olivia Stein got 3rd, and junior Brianna Lyons, Sulger, and sophomore Sally Boucher were also in the top 10. In the 1600 meters senior Daphne Cutler came in 1st place, and sophomores Katie Chandler and Georgia Sheehan placed 3rd and 4th. Chavannes came in 2nd place in the high jump, jumping 5’0 ft. Sammie Wagner, Joen Echeverria, and Ashley Hagender all got to 6’6 ft in the pole vault event. Christina Pizzani jumped 13’6.5 ft in the long jump. Overall the first meet was a success and the girls track team is looking like it is going to have an amazing season, as they already have many FCIAC and state qualifiers!
