The Lakers came out on top against the Bulls with a thrilling 30-28 win in a highly anticipated clash between the only two undefeated House basketball teams. It was a battle between the league’s best offense (Bulls 48.8 ppg) and the league’s best defense (Lakers 31.6 ppg) on Sunday. (1/31) Bulls star junior Tyler Pruden led the Bulls to an early lead with strong inside play, but it was the Lakers’ defense that kept them in the game, as they only scored a single point in the first 10 minutes of the game, and went down 17-7 at halftime. After halftime, Senior George Benitez took over on offense for the Lakers, going on a scoring tear that got the Lakers ahead of the Bulls 28-27 with three minutes left. For the next three minutes, the Lakers played shut down defense, limiting the Bulls to only one point, and watched a last second shot miss for the Bulls. Benitez was the leading scorer in the game, scoring 20 of the Lakers’ 30 points. The final games of the season will be held at the MMS Gym on Feb 7. Watch George Benitez and the Lakers try to cap off a perfect season in their season finale against Max Reyes and the Bobcats at 5 pm, and Tyler Pruden and the Bulls try to finish the season on a good note against league-leading scorer Graham Hotchkiss and the winless Timberwolves at 3 pm.
