On Friday, February 10th,
the Darien High School Girls JV Basketball team played against the Stamford Black
Knights in Darien’s own gymnasium. The girls gave the Stamford players a run
for their money and within minutes the Blue Wave had racked up a quick 10
points. “The girls played really intensely and left everything on the court,” freshman
Kyra Fitzpatrick said.
After an intense first
half, Darien led the game 32-3.The girls held their ground throughout the
second half of the match and did not let their lead slip. Darien won the competition
and the final score was 49-10. Although there was
little representation from the student body, the team’s decisive win left the
girls in high spirits.
The next JV
Girls Basketball game is scheduled for Monday, February 13th, at
5:15 pm against Fairfield Warde High School in the DHS gym. With the team’s
current track record, the game will most likely be an exciting match for fans across the board.
