The Boys Freshman Basketball Team
lost to Bassick High School 53-59 this past Wednesday. Though the team made
some very key plays that should have been game-changers, it was Bassick who
prevailed. Freshman Peter Archey led the team with 21 points, a season high.
Darien didn’t get off to the
greatest start in the first quarter, scoring only six points. Many free throws
and heads-up play were the key to succeeding in the second quarter where Darien
scored 18 points and trailed Bassick by only four points. The score was 24- 28.
The second half of the game did not
go as well for Darien as in the first half. Darien scored 17 points, but it was
not enough to stop some of the best players on Bassick. Bassick’s ability to
pop in three pointers really made it hard for Darien to compete. In the fourth
quarter, Bassick upped the ante on their defense and allowed Darien to score
only 12 points.
Freshmen Stephen Barston comments of
the season for the team so far: “He are getting better for sure. It’s too bad
that we only have one more game left in the season.”
For more Boys Freshmen Basketball action,
come to see their next home game next Wednesday at 4:00 sharp. Be sure to get
their early, because it can get pretty crowded.
