The Girls Varsity Hockey team tied Ridgefield (2-2) yesterday (2/15). Ridgefield came out strong with two goals. However, Darien came back with two goals of its own. Sophomore Ellie Bennett (pictured) scored off of an assist from senior captain Sara Shaker. Soon after, Shaker scored off of an assist from senior captain Emily Tropsa. The two teams ended the third period with a tie and went into overtime. Towards the end of overtime, Bennett scored a goal that could have won the game for Darien, but the goal was called back. The game ended with a tie. “We came out slow but ended up making a major comeback,” Bennett said. “We played one of the best games we’ve played all season.”
The girls play New Canaan on Saturday (2/18) at Darien Ice Rink at 8:40PM. Come support the team against the school’s biggest rival.
