The DHS Varsity Baseball team defeated Harding High
School in a score of 25-0 on Monday, April 30th at the DHS Varsity
Turf Baseball Field.
Starting on the mound for DHS was senior Dylan
Duncan. In his three innings pitched, he had six strikeouts, no hits, no walks,
allowed no base runners, and was therefore perfect for all the innings he
pitched.
DHS bats came alive in
the first inning resulting in a 7-0 lead after just one inning of play. Leadoff
hitter and one of the senior captains, Thomas Carruthers batted twice in just
one inning.
The bats on both sides in the second were inactive,
Duncan struck out the side while DHS didn’t record any runs (according to the scoreboard).
The third inning was the best for DHS, scoring nine
runs. The fourth inning was much of the same, when DHS scored seven more runs.
The relivers for DHS also pitched a jem and picked
up right where Duncan left off. In the final four innings of the game, they
allowed only one hit and no runs.
The last few innings for both sides were that of
good fielding and pitching. The bats were on fire at the beginning of the game
seemed to cool down in the evening breeze.
Come watch the team this Wednesday at DHS at 4pm for
more DHS Varsity Baseball action!
