Boys Lacrosse defeats New Canaan to Advance to FCIAC Title Game

The Darien Boys Lacrosse team defeated New Canaan in the FCIAC final on Tuesday by a score of 13-7.  This was the second meeting between the two teams, with the previous one being a New Canaan win that ended Darien's legendary 34 game winning streak. This time around though, Darien started strong and did not look back, as the team led 9-4 at halftime, and outscored their opponent 4-3 in the second half. Darien junior Colin Minicus led all scorers with four goals while fellow junior Hudson Hamill had two goals and three assists on the day.

The Blue Wave will now meet Ridgefield in the FCIAC final in a battle between two very similar teams. Darien stands at a record of 15-3 while Ridgefield holds a record of 14-4. Ridgefield is coming off a major upset of the one seeded Greenwich Cardinals, and will look to carry that momentum into Thursday's FCIAC final. The Blue Wave and the Tigers met earlier in the year, with Darien prevailing by a score of 10-9. Darien will look to defend their title from last year, while Ridgefield is looking to pull off a major tournament upset and claim the title for themselves. The final is Thursday night at Brien McMahon High School.
