Girls' tennis team lost to Greenwich on Thursday (5/6) at home. Greenwich is one of the top teams in the FCIAC along with New Canaan and Staples, both teams Darien faced defeat. Greenwich has a young team that sets the stage for the next few years: two of its best athletes are freshmen. Senior Alex Budd lost to a freshmen. She was not alone with the rest of the team loosing their games. The sole bright spot of the day came from junior Sophie Doering who won her match against the high-powered team. Darien is 6-3. Junior player Amanda Brodsky ( pictured w/ senior Emily Hough) responded “yeah definitely” when asked about the girls chance of qualifying for the FCIAC and State tournaments. The number one and two doubles and singles can both still qualify for the State-Open match. The team's next match is at home on Friday (5/7) at 4pm. Come cheer the girls on as the play St. Joes of Trumbull!
