Darien Girls’ Ice Hockey Preview:
-By: Ian Sullivan-
As the winter sports season begins, no team has bigger goals than the Blue Wave Girls’ Ice Hockey squad. Coming off an appearance in both the FCIAC and State Championship game last season, the team looks to make another appearance in both championship games. But this time come out victorious. However, the girls face many struggles. The team lost many key seniors including top goalie in the state Katherine Macomber who is now at Villanova. Not only that, but as of now, the Wave has no goalies for the upcoming season. They are trying to convert freshman Shannon Hall, however, it is still undetermined who will be protecting the net for the Blue Wave in the 2010-11 season. Despite these setbacks, the Blue Wave still has high hopes. Led by senior tri-captains Lauren Perkins, Ellie Bullitt, and Emma Tuz, the wave looks to surprise the FCIAC. Come support the Blue Wave in their upcoming season, with their first game against Wilton on Wednesday (12/8) away at 8:30 pm.
