Girls Hockey Opens With Loss
-By: Julia Lang-
The Blue Wave Girls’ Ice Hockey team kicked off its season with a 3-2 loss to Wilton at Wilton High School on Wednesday. (12/8) The team performed strongly during the first period, scoring one goal but not allowing any goals for Wilton. However, in the second period, Wilton scored three goals and Darien only scored one. The two Darien goals were scored by freshman Ellie Bennett and captain, senior Ellie Bullitt. While the girls are disappointed about the loss, the team was happy with its overall performance as a group. “Everyone on the team worked very hard and skated aggressively and with heart for the duration of the game,” senior Emma Tuzinkiewicz said. After an amazing season last year, the team hopes to make it to the State Championship and FCIAC again. “Although we still have a few improvements to make, it is a promising start to the season. We can only improve moving forward. We are really looking forward to a successful season by outworking every team that we play,” Tuzinkiewicz said. Come support the girls at Fairfield High School at 3:30pm on Monday. (12/13)
