Girl’s Lax Loses to Greenwich in Semifinals

Darien girls’ lacrosse team had an upsetting 11-9 loss to Greenwich in the CIAC semifinals at Fairfield Warde High School on Wednesday. (6/9) The game was no easy match for the team, but Darien did not go down without a fight. Senior Anne Fucigna received four goals, and two each from senior captain Cali Ceglarski and freshman Kristy Gilbert.

Despite the loss, Coach Lisa Lindley reflected on her team with a more positive note. "I thought our defense played well tonight and my goalie was outstanding,” Lindley told the Darien News. The girls have now been eliminated from the CIAC championships. It was a tough defeat coming off a stellar 2009 season where they undefeated in the state throughout their whole season; as well as being FCIAC & State Champions.
