DHS Rugby Lands Top Seven Spot

-By: Connor McCarthy-

The Darien Rugby Club went to the Second Annual Connecticut High School Rugby Tournament at Yale and didn’t even finish last. On Saturday, May 9th, they played the Greenwich Varsity Side, and lost abysmally, but only by about 45 or so. After 30 minutes rest, they went on to play Madison High School: a game they should have won. The A-side was not put out so that everyone could play, and because of this omission the team suffered a close loss. The last match was against Branford High School. Finally they caught a break. Sophomore Sam McCarthy cheekily walked over the try line in the last few minutes, leading Darien RFC to pull out a win. DHS RFC ended the day ranked seventh in the state.
