2012’s Girls Volleyball Captains Are Revealed

By Emily Caccam

At the team banquet yesterday evening (Tuesday 11-30), the captains for the 2012 girls volleyball season were announced. Current juniors Kelly Kosnik and Riley Sousa (pictured) will fill the shoes of former captains Charlotte Stevenson, Katie Stuber, and Amanda Sommi as leaders of the team.

Kosnik and Sousa, who have been both playing since freshman year, say they are honored and ecstatic for their newly assigned roles. “I’m excited for next season,” Kosnik said. “We’re going to have a lot of great people coming back, but we’re going to miss our seniors.” These leaving seniors, in addition to the captains, include Nina Preston and Lexi Ashburne.

Although the season does not begin until next school year, the new captains are already fulfilling duties, from meeting with their coach to prepping for off-season training.

“I’m so honored [to be captain!]. I’m confident and hopeful for our team next year,” Sousa said.

The school congratulates Kosnik and Sousa, as well as the rest of next year’s captains. Check Blue Wave Sports Blog to get the news on the 2012 field hockey captains, which are scheduled to be announced at their Saturday (12-3) banquet.
