Girls’ Hockey Continues Undefeated Season, Beats Glastonbury
By: Melanie Tzenova - The Blue Wave girls’ hockey team defeated Glastonbury 6-3 on Friday afternoon (12/23), continuing their undefeated season thus far. Although Glastonbury was not one of Darien’s major competitors according to sophomore and goalie Shannon Hall, she said, “I think we’re doing really well as a team right now. The freshmen are doing really well, along with the upperclassmen girls. We have really strong defense but missing senior Galen Rohn.” The girls hit the ice by storm and ended the first two periods with 5-1 home. Though the other team got aggressive during the last period, the Blue Wave girls scored a one pointer and won the match. The big scorers of the game were sophomores Ellie Bennett, who scored two goals, and Sage Thatcher, as well as junior Lily Christensen.
Hall said, “Teams that we’re really looking to defeat this season are New Canaan, Wilton, and Ridgefield—our main competition.” Their next game and first for the New Year will a home match on Thursday (1/5) against the Wilton Warriors at 6:30 pm.
