Boys Varsity basketball delivered a thrilling win at home last night (1/10) against perennial rival New Canaan, bringing their record to 2-6. Led by Junior Liam Naughton, who scored 18 points, and Sophomore George Phillips, who recorded 14, the boys came back from a 33-28 deficit at the half to secure their second win of the season.
Other than
Naughton and Phillips, the starters included Senior captain Matt Lee, Senior
Tommy Maclean Jr., and Junior Kyle Green, although everyone on the team saw
playing time. Naughton credited Coach Marion with helping motivate the boys,
saying that “He made a great inspirational speech at half time and really came
in with a great gameplan that we implemented.”
The
boys hope to carry their success forward into the final 12 games of the season.
“Everybody worked hard and we hope to continue the momentum into our next few
games,” Naughton said. “This is a great win for us because it was really a team
win.”
The
home crowd advantage must have helped as well, as the boys had their biggest
and loudest audience of the year. Come join the crowd when the team plays at
home again this Friday (1/13) against Greenwich.
