After winning their first 5 matches handily, the Boys Golf
team faced several matches late in the month that tested their resolve.
Last week (4/25), the Boys Varsity golf team beat Trumbull
and Danbury 155 to 175 and 164 respectively. Freshman phenom Christian Ostberg
had a breakout match, collecting medalist honors with a superlative round of
35. Junior captain Cameron Van de Graaf shot a 38, and senior captain Kieran
Suri was one behind with a 39. After struggling early in his round, senior
Andrew Morgan rallied and was able to walk away with a 43. Freshman Sam
Knowlton recorded a 47. Said Suri, “This is a tough golf course, and I’m very
happy with our scores…especially Christian’s.”
The win came on the heels of a victory over longtime rival
New Canaan earlier in the week by the score of 154 to 157. In that match, Suri
led the way with a 37, and Van de Graaf and Ostberg contributed with two 38s. Morgan
shot 41 to round out the squad.
The team is off to a great start and is currently featured
in the FCIAC team of the week polling, so don’t forget to vote.
