This past Saturday (1/11), the Girls Varsity Indoor Track
Team competed at the SCC Coaches Invitational Meet at Hillhouse in New Haven.
Darien won the team title with 50 points and Glastonbury finished second with
38 points.
Junior Anna Sulger won both the 600m (1:38) and the 300m
(41.01) competitions. Junior Maddie Schneider came in second in the vault
(11'0). Senior Catherine Lacy came in second in the long jump (17'5).
Sophomores Grace Harmon and Caroline O’Brien ran strong races and both
qualified for the Class L State Meet.
There was also a developmental meet (1/12) at Staples High
School where Elisabeth O’Brien, Sam Savage, Kate Halabi, and Paula Tabaschek
qualified for FCIACS.
"Both meets were great and both the coaches and girls
were happy with the results. The championship season is coming up fast, but
everyone is strong and will hopefully keep improving!” varsity junior Anne
Johnston said.
The next Girls Indoor Varsity Track meet will be held at
Yale this upcoming weekend (1/17-1/18).
