On Wednesday, January 15, 2014, the Blue Wave Boys Hockey
team took on Fairfield at the Darien Ice Rink (note that it was a joint
Fairfield Warde and Ludlowe team that Darien was facing). In the pervious
season, the Fairfield Co-op team put up a great fight versus Darien only losing
by one goal. It was a well-played game for Fairfield because similar to this year,
Darien was a heavily favorite. However, this year Fairfield could only be proud
of being the first ones on the board, and keeping the game close through one
period, because after that it was all Darien. Darien left the game with a solid
6-2 victory. Goals came from juniors Craig Miller, Tiger Sullivan, and Jack
Pardue, as well as seniors Nick Allam and Tommy Watters, who put the puck in
the back of the net twice in just eight seconds. “We came out sluggish in the
first, but we really started to play our game in the second and that was where
we buried them,” senior captain Jack Massie said. With that win, Darien is now
4-1-1, and remains undefeated in FCIAC play.
Come watch Darien’s next home game on Saturday against
Westhill, 5:50pm at the Darien Ice Rink. Take a break from studying and cheer
on the Blue Wave!
