Eppley Leads #1 Lakers into Finals

Senior Brent Eppley was unstoppable from three-point range in a 54-51 Lakers victory over the #4 Hornets in the semifinals on Sunday. (Feb 14) In a Valentine's Day game filled with three-point shots, Eppley made the most despite playing with a jammed finger. Hornets’ juniors John Foster, Chris Carmody, and senior Ryan Saffa, Lakers’ Eppley, senior George Benitez, and junior Sam Nelson all joined in on the three-point barrage and made at least one three-point shot.

The game started off with a bang as junior Dan Pidgeon nailed a jump shot five seconds into the game in possibly the fastest points ever scored in a game. Then both teams combined to make five combined three-point shots in a row. The game was tight the whole way through with the score 32-29 at halftime in favor of the Hornets. Late in the second half the Lakers started to pull away with the score at 54-45 with four minutes left, but then Hornets’ Saffa hit a couple three pointers in a row to make the score 54-51. However, neither team scored for the rest of the night, and the Lakers held on to win.
