Wave Drop Two and Fall to .500

-By: Christian Panier-

A rough start to February for girls’ basketball who lost two games last week. The first was a 43-46 loss to number-one seed St. Joe’s on Feb. 2 followed by a 53-58 loss to Brien McMahon on Feb 5. With these two losses, the team drops to 7-7, tenth in the FCIAC, which means the Blue Wave will still make it to the playoffs. Three other teams in addition to Darien arefighting for the last FCIAC spots: Danbury, Brien McMahon, and Trumbull. In order for Darien to win, they will need to take care of the ball and capitalize on easy baskets. Good news for the Wave, junior Julia Boulton returns to the line-up this week after being out with three broken toes (the three middle ones). This coming week, the girls will play Bridgeport Central on Tuesday (2/9) at 7pm and again on Friday (2/12) at 7pm against Fairfield Warde. Both games are at home and Friday is Senior Night. Bridgeport Central and Fairfield Warde are tied for the 11th seed in the FCIAC.
