Who Dat?

-By: Sam Nelson-

For the first time ever, the Saints are known as World Champions. The New Orleans Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 on Sunday. (2/8) The first half of the game was not great for the Saints, as they went down 10-0 fast. Colts quarterback Peyton Manning threw a 19- yard touchdown to Pierre Garcon for the early lead. At the end of the half, the Saints were in a 10-6 hole at the half, but then the Saints Drew Brees showed why he was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. At the beginning of the second half, the Saints tried a risky move by doing an on-side kick, and were fortunate to land it. The Saints then went on to score a touchdown and take the 13-10 lead. The Colts then engineered a 10 play 76 yard drive to take the lead back at 17-13. There was no looking back for the Saints. They scored 18 unanswered points going up 31-17 which would be the final score. The big play of the game was the only turnover, an interception thrown by Peyton Manning. Defensive back Tracy Porter(pictured w/ ball) of the Saints returned the touchdown 74 yards to seal the game. Drew Brees had an unbelievable game, going 32-39 with 288 yards and two touchdowns. No surprise, Brees was named with Super Bowl MVP.
