Wave Hockey Wins Fall League Championship

by Mike Cassidy

On Monday November 25, 2013 the Darien High School Boys Varsity Hockey team took on their rivals, the New Canaan Rams, in the Fall League (FCIAC preseason) Championship. The Fall League tournament is played every year before the hockey season. Each game is played at Terry Connors Ice Rink in Stamford. Teams from around the FCIAC compete in the tournament and after multiple games are played, teams that had a good enough record move on to elimination play. This year, Darien played their rivals, New Canaan in the championship game. Both teams played each other very tightly, but at the end Darien came out on top, winning the game 3-1. Goals came from senior Connor Davis and junior Aidan Loh. Defenses for both teams played great! The goalies on both sides of the ice played excellent games and appeared to be ready for the season to start. “We are happy we succeeded and won the fall league championship,” junior forward Jack Pardue said. Come watch the Darien Varsity Boys regular season home opener on December 28th, at 4:00 at the Darien Ice Rink, as they take on New Canaan.
