Yesterday,
on September 11th, Superintendent Dr. Stephen Falcone announced that
the Darien Public School systems and the Darien Board of Education had hired a
new full-time athletic director. In his press release, Dr. Falcone said that he
was “pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Christopher Manfredonia as
Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics.”
Mr.
Manfredonia hails from Fairfield Ludlowe High School, where he served as A.D.
for seven years. Prior to that, he was chair of the Staples High School
physical education department and he also taught physical education at Bedford
Middle School in Westport, Connecticut. He
is an active member of the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic
Conference.
Mr. Mike
Sullivan resumed his responsibilities as Assistant Principal of DHS on
September 10th. Mr. John Keleher, retired Athletic Director, will
fill in as an interim until Mr. Manfredonia begins.
On behalf
of Neirad, DHS, and the community at
large, we thank Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Keleher for their (continued) service and
we welcome Mr. Manfredonia to the Blue Wave!
