Juniors Kate Halabi, Lindsey Holek, Anne Johnston, Erika
Osherow, and Samantha Savage were named captains for the 2014 Girls Cross
Country team this past Thursday. They will be replacing current senior captains
Barbara Bell, Kerry Donovan, Grace Evanich, and Alex Ford.
The Girls Cross Country had an overall strong season with a
record of eleven wins and four losses. The team finished fifth at FCIACS, ran
well at the State Class L meet, and qualified for State Opens. Junior Anne
Johnston also qualified for New England’s where she finished 28th. “The season
turned out much better than expected with a lot of help from the talented
junior class as well as young talent from underclassmen,” senior Kerry Donovan
said.
“We know BWXC will be in good hands, especially because all
5 captains are varsity level runners. Anne, Erika, Kate, Lindsey, Sam, along
with Amanda Percarpio will bring a wide range of talent and skill to the team.
I’m so proud of them,” senior Barbara Bell said.
“I’m really looking forward to next year. I think we have a
great group of captains and an even better team. After qualifying for State
Opens as a team this year, I think we have a lot to look forward to! We’ve had
a building year and next year is our time to see what we can do,” junior and
2014 captain Anne Johnston said.
