On Wednesday,
November 13th, Darien Boys Basketball played Greenwich in the Fall
League playoffs. The Blue Wave exited the first round with a loss to
Greenwich, falling by a final score of 63-38.
Greenwich
and Darien were going back and forth early in the game. On defense, both teams played a 2-3 zone defense. Then the Cardinals started pulling ahead. Greenwich was playing tenacious defense
making it tough for the Blue Wave to score and they were executing their
offense. It was a frustrating game for Darien.
Senior captain Ames Murray said, “[It was a] very tough, physical, and intense
game, the type you hate to lose”. With a
first round exit it was disappointing for the Blue Wave but overall it was a
good preseason for Darien. They see how
they compare to other teams and what their weaknesses are. A good sign was their defense, strong
throughout fall league, which will help them win games when the season starts. Murray said, “It was a step in the right
direction”.
