The Girls Field Hockey team played Westhill on
Wednesday, November 6th, dominating their opponents with a
shutout. The Blue Wave came out weak at the beginning, but after Coach Mo Minicus called a
timeout, they stepped up their game. Sophomore Georgia Cassidy made the first
goal, and it was quickly followed by a goal by sophomore Marissa Baker. After the
two goals, the team began to get into their groove. Senior Danika Hornick had
many great saves during the second half of the game and senior Molly Reigel made
many stops on defense.
In
the second half, senior Libby Feingold scored twice and senior Eliza Wizinsky added another goal
to the scoreboard. With fifteen minutes
left in the game, a Westhill player got by all of the Darien defenders on the
right side of the field, sprinting towards the empty circle with all of
the Darien players trying to catch up to her.
Junior Erinn Ravosa came in from the left, and was able to stop the
break away.
After the game, Ravosa said, “It was a great win! We are all so proud of each other and look forward to our game on Friday!”
