This Monday, April 21st, the Darien Girls Golf team took on
the New Canaan Girls Golf team at home at Wee Burn Country Club, as did the JV
girls. This was the team’s second match of the season after beating Fairfield
Ludlowe the week before break.
Senior captain Margot Sweeney came in as the lowest overall
score with a 43, including a chip in for birdie from the sand. Junior Amanda
Sload followed with a 45, and junior captain Julianna Lee was close behind with
a 48. The fourth score that counted was that of junior Megan Whittier, who shot
54. This combined for a 190, which bested New Canaan’s 254.
“Our team did a really good job yesterday, considering that
we had yet to play Wee Burn this season, but going off of our win against
Ludlowe we kept our momentum going and as a team played really well against New
Canaan, shooting our lowest differential and one that will count towards States
qualification,” Sweeney said.
The girls will take on Wilton at Woodway Country Club on
April 24th, hoping to extend their undefeated record.
