DHS Squash Smashes St. Lukes

-By: Britt Gordon-

Varsity Squash team smashed St. Luke’s JV team. It was a clean sweep on Thursday, with Darien winning all of the 10 matches and letting up only four games. Leslie Gill, the team’s #1 player, beat her opponent 3-1 in sets with relative ease. Maddy Gill, who played #2, Alex Hauer, who played #6, and Andrew Maubousson, #7, all won their matches without dropping a set. Tim Westcott, who played #3 for Darien, dropped a set early but was able to maintain the focus and stamina to win the match. Geoff Dailey, #4, got off to a promising start with an easy first set when his opponent unexpectedly
forfeited.

After a disappointing season as a first-year varsity team last year, the Varsity Squash team is a new and improved group this year and on its way to success. The team is currently #32 in the nation, and as Nationals are coming up, the team is looking forward to an excellent performance.
