The Blue Wave varsity baseball team is off to a great start with a big win over New Fairfield on Wednesday(4/7) at home. The powerful left-hander senior Ricky Hodges got the start and pitched four innings, recording five strikeouts and only five hits. To go along with the decent pitching, senior John Gardner (pictured) went 2-4 hitting. Senior Brandon Tripodi went 2-3 hitting to drive in two runs supported by solid play in the field from junior Dan Pidgeon. The big hit came in the second inning when senior Scott Dempsey hit a home run in left center field over the second tier to hammer home a run. The final score was 11-5 in a blowout win. The next game will be at home at 4pm on Friday (4/9) when the team takes on arch-rival New Canaan.
