With States Clinched, Girls Basketball tries to Sneak Into FCIACs despite Loss

By Kate Fitzmaurice - Darien Girls basketball played Stamford last Friday night (2/10). Although the team made solid efforts, the game ended in another loss. The first quarter started out well, juniors Kate Bushell and Meg Marren (pictured) each made major contributions to the teams efforts. The quarter ended with a score of 12 to 8, with Darien in the lead. During the second quarter, Stamford caught up and finished the half with a score of 17 to 22. During the last half is where things really went down hill. Darien played good defense throughout, but could just not stay strong enough against Stamford’s aggressive and forceful offense. The game ended with a final score of 32 to 52, Stamford. Come support the team at their next chance for victory tonight (2/13) at Darien High School at 7 P.M. They will be playing Fairfield Warde. If they win this game, Darien will have a chance at the FCIAC title.
