Girls Lacrosse Team Wins First Scrimmage of the Season

by Sara Shaker
The Girls Varsity Lacrosse team beat Fox Lane HIgh School, a team from New York, 15-4 yesterday (3/21). The team came out aggressively and kept its aggression throughout the game. With four goals from senior captain Brynn Gasparino, three goals from junior Jena Fritts, two goals each from senior Catherine Lincoln and sophomore Emily Stein, and one goal each from senior Charlett Stevenson, junior Kristy Gilbert, and junior Lexie Perticone, the team was able to come out with a win. Assists came from junior Taylor Hardison, Fritts, and Stein with three each, two each from sophomore Dillon Schoen, Gasparino, and Perticone, and one from Gilbert. Junior Caylee Waters stayed strong in goal with five saves, three goals against, and two interceptions.
The team ended with five yellow cards total, causing the girls to be down two players for the last 15 minutes of the game. With new rules about yellow cards coming into play this year for the league, the team is still adjusting. “We have a lot of stuff to work on but for our first scrimmage we looked pretty good,” Gasparino said.
Come watch the team play in its jamboree this Saturday (3/24) at 1PM at the DHS Stadium Turf.
