Varsity Field Hockey; Rising to the Challenge

Monday, October 8th the Darien Field Hockey team secured another win for their already strong season by beating Daniel Hand four to one on Darien High School’s home turf. “It’s a really important win for us, because they [Daniel Hand] are such big competition” said junior Libby Feingold.
Darien started off the game strong with the first goal scored by junior Hollis Perticone assisted by senior captain Lexie Perticone. The duo repeated this process earning the team’s second goal just a few minutes after the first. “I really don’t deserve credit for those goals because the setup was so perfect,” said junior Hollis Perticone. After the goals scored early in the first half there were no additions to the scoreboard for either teams.
Darien picked up its intensity again in the beginning of the second half when junior Claire Culliton scored the third goal with no assists by her fellow teammates. The second half continued on with little action until four minutes before the end when sophomore Kyla Johns scored Darien’s final goal assisted by Junior Sloane Bessey. Soon after Daniel Hand scored its first and only goal of the game leaving Darien with a win four to one. Check out the next Field Hockey game against Ridgefield on October 13th at DHS.
