Boys Basketball Goes One and Done in Fall League Playoffs

By Ryan Filippone

On Wednesday, November 13th, Darien Boys Basketball played Greenwich in the Fall League playoffs.  The Blue Wave exited the first round with a loss to Greenwich, falling by a final score of 63-38.

Greenwich and Darien were going back and forth early in the game.  On defense, both teams played a 2-3 zone defense.  Then the Cardinals started pulling ahead.  Greenwich was playing tenacious defense making it tough for the Blue Wave to score and they were executing their offense.  It was a frustrating game for Darien. Senior captain Ames Murray said, “[It was a] very tough, physical, and intense game, the type you hate to lose”.  With a first round exit it was disappointing for the Blue Wave but overall it was a good preseason for Darien.  They see how they compare to other teams and what their weaknesses are.  A good sign was their defense, strong throughout fall league, which will help them win games when the season starts.  Murray said, “It was a step in the right direction”.
